Job Summary
This role is offered on a permanent basis. The hours are full time, 37.5 hours per week. A Band 6 post within our well established multi-disciplinary Assertive outreach team based in Stroud.
The Assertive Outreach Team works within the principles of Intensive and Assertive Outreach review and social inclusion to provide assessment and evidence-based interventions for adults experiencing dual diagnosis and complex social difficulties. You will be motivated, conscientious and reliable with experience of working in a community setting, a car driver, able to care coordinate a caseload (within the CPA policy) and have IT skills. We are able to offer flexible working.
Main Duties of the Job
We are looking for someone who has a good understanding and high level of commitment to the recovery process and social inclusion. You will be expected to carry out thorough, informative OT assessments which will help inform treatment plans and support applications for care packages with complex and difficult to engage service users.
As a senior mental health worker in a multi-disciplinary team you will offer supervision to more junior staff particularly those working on social inclusion and meaningful occupation to service users.
Supervision and continuous professional development will be integral to this post.
Responsibilities
Provide specialist occupational therapy assessment and intervention for working‑age adults with severe and complex mental health needs.
Provide evidence‑based occupational therapy assessment and intervention to optimise the service users’ ability to engage in and maintain meaningful occupations in line with the principles of social inclusion and recovery.
Undertake care coordination responsibilities for an allocated number of service users.
Provide training and support to primary and secondary health care professionals, social care providers and families to enable them to better meet the occupational needs.
Offer supervision to junior staff and support their professional development.

Qualifications (Essential)
Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy
HCPC Registration
Qualifications (Desirable)
Further qualifications relevant to community practice
Experience (Essential)
Experience of working in the NHS in the UK in the clinical specialty of occupational therapy.
Experience (Desirable)
Experience of supervising, appraising and providing education/training to others.
