Coventry City Council is a metropolitan council providing services to the citizens of Coventry. We have 54 councillors who represent 18 wards across the city. The Conservative group is in control of the council with 27 councillors while Labour make up 24 of the council's membership. Two council members represent the Socialists, and one represents the Liberal Democratic Party. All 54 councillors make major decisions about policies and services at a Full Council meeting held in the Council Chamber every six weeks. Government watchdogs have praised our council members for their leadership. As representatives of over 300,000 residents they have a big responsibility to act on behalf of the community in the best way possible. The Audit Commission has judged Coventry City Council to be one of the fastest improving local authorities in the country. The Council continues to improve and is now classed as a three star council.
