We are looking for a senior level backend developer, based in the UK, to support the growth of the team as the company matures. This role will work with five other backend developers to support our two backend leads, covering typical BAU client tickets as well as tackling some older improvements. For one week of every month, you will also spend time in our new ‘innovation team’ which is led by one of our backend leads. This is a great opportunity for the right person to take on a challenging and broad role. Homeflow is operating on a fully remote basis for the foreseeable future but some travel will be required for team meetings (Brighton / SE England) and client visits. Typical job tasks include: Fixing back end bugs Developing new features and writing user stories Adding test coverage to legacy applications Devising technical strategy and best practices with senior staff in the development team Improving continuous integration/delivery pipelines Contributing to team-building during stand-ups and retros Furthering knowledge and understanding of relevant technologies We’re looking for someone who has: At least 4 years of professional experience developing software Confident with Ruby/Ruby on Rails - this could be current or recent past experience Experience with test-driven/behaviour-driven development, particularly RSpec Proven ability to write readable code and efficient, scalable software It would be a bonus if they also have: Experience with static code analysis tools such as Rubocop, Brakeman Proficiency with both document and relational database systems (particularly MySQL, MongoDB, Docker) People who thrive in this role at Homeflow are collaborative, not afraid to ask questions, open to new ideas and learning, and are motivated and ready to get stuck in.
