Description

Salary: £50-55k Reports to: Backend Lead(s) Homeflow is a market-leading, fast-growing, profitable, software-as-a-service (SaaS) business in the property market, and we’re looking to grow significantly over the next two to three years. We think we’re a lovely team of people with a fantastic company culture that we want to retain as we grow - ambitious, hard-working and collaborative yet respectful of work-life balance. You can expect to feel welcomed and supported by some truly talented people, in a company that is constantly innovating. We are looking for a senior level backend developer, based in the UK, to support the growth of the team as the company matures. This role will work with five other backend developers to support our two backend leads, covering typical BAU client tickets as well as tackling some older improvements. For one week of every month, you will also spend time in our new ‘innovation team’ which is led by one of our backend leads. This is a great opportunity for the right person to take on a challenging and broad role. Homeflow is operating on a fully remote basis for the foreseeable future but some travel will be required for team meetings (Brighton / SE England) and client visits. Typical job tasks include: Fixing back end bugs Developing new features and writing user stories Adding test coverage to legacy applications Devising technical strategy and best practices with senior staff in the development team Improving continuous integration/delivery pipelines Contributing to team-building during stand-ups and retros Furthering knowledge and understanding of relevant technologies We’re looking for someone who has: At least 4 years of professional experience developing software Confident with Ruby/Ruby on Rails - this could be current or recent past experience Experience with test-driven/behaviour-driven development, particularly RSpec Proven ability to write readable code and efficient, scalable software It would be a bonus if they also have: Experience with static code analysis tools such as Rubocop, Brakeman Proficiency with both document and relational database systems (particularly MySQL, MongoDB, Docker) People who thrive in this role at Homeflow are collaborative, not afraid to ask questions, open to new ideas and learning, and are motivated and ready to get stuck in. Can’t tick every box? You’re only human - just like each of us We are a small, friendly and diverse team of about 40 people who are looking for the right person to join our team. We welcome applications from people who may not feel they meet every single requirement on this job description or who may be coming to us with a slightly different background. The same can be said if you feel that you can bring extra skills or experience to the table. Salary ranges reflect the skills we think we will find, but they aren’t firmly set in stone. It is more important for us to find team members who want to work in a supportive environment where people are ready to pitch in whenever needed and who are willing to grow with the business. If that sounds like you, please do send us an application, we’d love to learn more about you and what you think you can bring to this role. The role will close on 25th August 2022 (subject to change) but interviews may take place before this date, so please apply as soon as you can. No agencies please If you have any questions about this role, would like to reach out to the recruiter or would like to discuss adjustments to enable you to apply, please email recruitmenthomeflow.co.uk.

Information technology (IT) is the application of computers to store, study, retrieve, transmit, and manipulate data, or information, often in the context of a business or other enterprise. IT is considered a subset of information and communications technology (ICT). In 2012, Zuppo proposed an ICT hierarchy where each hierarchy level "contain[s] some degree of commonality in that they are related to technologies that facilitate the transfer of information and various types of electronically mediated communications". The term is commonly used as a synonym for computers and computer networks, but it also encompasses other information distribution technologies such as television and telephones. Several industries are associated with information technology, including computer hardware, software, electronics, semiconductors, internet, telecom equipment, and e-commerce. Humans have been storing, retrieving, manipulating, and communicating information since the Sumerians in Mesopotamia developed writing in about 3000 BC, but the term information technology in its modern sense first appeared in a 1958 article published in the Harvard Business Review; authors Harold J. Leavitt and Thomas L. Whisler commented that "the new technology does not yet have a single established name. We shall call it information technology (IT)." Their definition consists of three categories: techniques for processing, the application of statistical and mathematical methods to decision-making, and the simulation of higher-order thinking through computer programs.

Mansfield is a large market town in Nottinghamshire, England, the main town in the District of Mansfield and Mansfield Urban Area. It lies in the Maun Valley surrounded by hills, 12 miles (19 km) north of Nottingham in a largely urban district, most of whose 106,556 population live in the town (including Mansfield Woodhouse), with Market Warsop a secondary centre. It lies next to the urban area of Sutton-in-Ashfield. Mansfield is the only major sub-regional centre in the county, covering an area of 30 square miles (78 sq. km) and is the only local authority in Nottinghamshire directly to elect its mayor. The district has been influenced by a past of coal mining and textiles that lasted into the 1990s; since then Mansfield has 20.2 per cent (12,890) of its working-age population claiming out-of-work benefits.. The population has fallen over the last century, despite some industrial diversification.
