Job Description Location: London, GB The Role We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join Cloud Platform at one of the world’s biggest publishers to help us build and run a global EKS platform, along with setting the standards for observability and creating a self-service developer platform. Engineering is responsible for scaling, building, deploying websites that serve over 330 million users per month globally. The global engineering team includes Product Engineering, Platform Engineering and Core Engineering. About Cloud Platform You’ll be joining the Cloud Platform group which is responsible for three main areas: Site Reliability, Developer Experience and Operational Excellence, working across Europe, India and the US. We are responsible for building and maintaining a global Kubernetes platform, built in AWS, for the deployment of applications that serve hundreds of Condé Nast websites around the world. You will work alongside the application development teams in Conde Nast’s London, New York, and Bangalore Headquarters to build a scalable, highly available, resilient platform for use by engineers around the world. What we’re solving As a group our goal is to make a single global, highly resilient platform for hundreds of Conde Nast engineers to use, for deploying apps serving hundreds of millions of users. We’ve built out an EKS platform to replace our self managed kubernetes clusters, and are defining and developing the observability platform and developer experience on top. Our Tech AWS - for most of our infrastructure Terraform - infrastructure as code Kubernetes - our platforms Python & Golang - Our auxiliary tooling and testing How We Work Infrastructure as Code everywhere Pairing. We like knowledge sharing and upskilling Remote friendly. We work with engineers across time zones & locations. You’re only expected to work within your local office hours Oncall - teams are responsible for their own apps in production Training - provided on an individual basis where required for our tech & tooling Key Duties & Responsibilities Develop a large scale cutting edge platform to support the deployment of hundreds of applications Raise the bar on all work and share best practices Desire to automate everything About You Strong background in software development, having lead projects or workstreams Extensive experience in NodeJS, Python, Go or other languages Interest in infrastructure as code, CI/CD, CDNs and devops best practices Deep understanding of software architecture and design AWS experience in production (capable of debugging network issues, familiarity with AWS resources such as auto-scaling groups and everything surrounding it: VPCs, security groups, ELBs, networking etc.) Interest in working with Kubernetes.
