About this Role The Controls Standards Manager will report to the EMEA Strategy & Standards Manager within the International Control organization. This appointment is responsible for the development and implementation of new control standards against the risk management framework and associated policies. This role will be responsible for the following: The design and documentation of standards that articulation how a given Non Financial Risk type policy will be implemented including control requirements. Identify owners of each Standard and all impacted stakeholders and ensuring their participation in the development of a given Standard. Ensure the right level of governance (i.e. reviews and approvals) are in place and adhered to before standards are published. Ensure standards are implemented and embedded Facilitate on-going annual refresh of standards in line with policy revisions, risk management framework development and strategy progression. This role will require a strong combination of risk and control thought leadership, exemplary attention-to-detail, effective influence skills and the ability to deal with varied regional and international stakeholders and their often competing priorities. This role will support the EMEA Central Control Team in the timely and effective execution of risk management activities across numerous control functions as defined by the Risk Management Framework and the Risk & Control Target Operating Model. It will require continuous and effective engagement with regional and US stakeholders. This position will partner Line of Business BCE colleagues and functions across the second and third lines of defence as required to implement robust risk management practices and ensure transparency and clarity of LOB risks. Responsibilities Performs and manages for the Front Line the cross line of Business risk assessment programs with respect to the designated LOB as follows: Create and implement a new Control Standards Framework for the region, setting measurable expectations for Standards to be adhered to. Monitor the adherence to the established Standards through the agreed expectations and associated metrics and MI. Partner with EMEA Central Control Team and other Control Managers Team to ensure ongoing progress, timely escalation where warranted and continuous adjustment of the Standards where associated policies undergo periodic or ad hoc development. Develop a governance model to ensure adequate focus on the Control Standards Framework throughout the region. Partner with wider EMEA Control Team to ensure awareness of impact to the Standards Framework by other key deliverables, for example through strategic change programs, or regional strategy delivery plans. Collaborate with the Business, Business process 'Subject Matter Experts' (SMEs), and business contacts across the second and third lines of defence and BCEs from other regions to support the deliver the designated LOBs control program requirements. Skills and Certifications Strong experience and knowledge in non-financial risk (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) in financial services industry experience Proven experience implementing and maintaining effective risk management programs, especially risk controls, within a large complex financial services company Knowledge of global banking regulatory/supervisory frameworks Ability to manage and/or collaborate with geographically dispersed teams, matrixed relationships and interact with all levels of an organization Must be a proactive self-starter who values personal accountability and thrives under pressure in a fast-paced and demanding environment Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy Strong relationship management skills and organizational savvy Experience communicating in both written and verbal formats with executive-level leaders Ability to analyze data and make connections across various data sets to make recommendations to management and project teams in a timely manner. Ability to leverage creative thinking and problem solving skills to facilitate decisions and to ensure project outcomes result in expected business value.
