JOB TITLE: EU Finance Manager: VAT REPORTS TO: Head of Finance: Shared Services We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager to join the Shared Services Finance team at URBN, reporting into the Head of Finance. This role will give the right person the chance to work in an experienced team and will be given the encouragement and support to learn and develop. All three of our brands (Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and Free People) in Europe are accountable for their own buying, merchandising, and selling. Several other functions sit within shared services as a part of the wider URBN European division. Within this division sits Finance, IT, Logistics, Property, Construction, Facilities Management, Real Estate, HR & Talent Acquisition. The successful candidate should have good numeric, organization and interpersonal skills and adapt to working in a fast-paced dynamic retail environment. What You’ll Be Doing:Strategy & PlanningKeeping up to date with new legislation on indirect taxes in the UK and worldwide, leading the registration and set up process for new territories, or adapting current processes to reflect new legislation where requiredResponsibility for the testing of any new systems developments that impact the accounting for VAT or Sales Tax e.g., the implementation of IOSS for European Import VATBe the main point of contact for all indirect tax related queries from the business, liaising with external tax advisors where required ReturnsOwnership of all Retail, E Commerce, Wholesale VAT, IOSS & Intrastat returns for UK, EU & other territoriesTimely production, review and filing of all returnsFirst point of contact to service provider, auditors, and tax authoritiesIdentify system gaps & opportunities, partner with the service provider & Technology teams to implement these enhancementsTax reclaimsOwnership of outstanding tax reclaims with tax authoritiesCarry out VAT reclaim reviews to ensure allowances are maximized and changes to legislation are fully understood Partner with third parties & Technology team to prepare these reclaimsPeriod endOversee monthly Sales VAT Validation, process adjustments where neededQuantify monthly outbound Duty & Import VAT and review & approve corresponding invoices Partner with Technology and aim for smarter processes & reportingBusiness card transactions monthly review of VAT treatment Balance sheet reconciliations TeamManaging all aspects of people management and developing a Junior AccountantProvide training and guidance to finance and non-finance teams on all VAT related matters Stakeholder ManagementTax authoritiesAuditorsExternal advisors & service providersWider finance teamsNorth America teamsBrands & Technology teams What You’ll Need:ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalentGood knowledge of regulatory requirements covering accounting, tax and duties in the UK and Rest of WorldTechnically strong and be skilled in analytics and problem solving.The role should provide support, coaching and mentoring to junior staff and assist in streamlining and improving processes.Systems exposure e.g., Oracle, Hyperion, Qlik, Alteryx or similar BI toolAdvanced level of MS Excel Skills and similar level for other MS programs such as Outlook, Word etc.Organized and a true multi-tasker, you will be a problem solver and approach challenges with positivity.You will be a team player, flexible in approach, highly motivated & ambitious.Strong communication skills The Perks:· Work-life balance:· Flexible start and finish times· Bring your dog to work · Wellbeing:· Employees Assistance program to support with mental, physical, and financial health· Fully equipped free gym and on-site wellness room in Brick Lane and 50% discount off external gym memberships· Private Medical Insurance· Employee Discount:· Up to 40% off at all URBN Brands (Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People and more!)· Community:· One paid day to either volunteer or fundraise for a charity of your choice· Travel:· Cycle to work scheme, season ticket loan· Continued Development:· We offer structured support within the business alongside continued learning and development
