Department Description The Asset Finance business launched at the beginning of 2021, a relatively new product in the Allica suite, we have already expanded the offering into larger exposure levels and sub-hire customers, distributed by intermediaries and direct relationships. The Asset Finance business is growing at pace, with a NACFB nomination already under our belt, we’re just getting started. As part of the risk function within Asset Finance, this role is critical to ensure we can deliver on our objectives in a safe manner. Purpose of Role At Allica, we are building fantastic expertise within our teams to enable our support of Britain’s SMEs. This has enabled our Asset Finance team to quickly develop a compelling proposition from a standing start. At the heart of this success is a genuine belief in empowered colleagues, agile delivery and accessible leadership. As an Underwriter within the Asset Finance business, you will have a pivotal role in shaping, embedding and delivering on our appetite and guidelines, supporting the Head of Underwriting in providing consistent, appropriate decisions to ensure the Allica book continues to grow at pace, in a safe manner. Principal Accountabilities Making timely and accurate underwriting decisions under a delegated lending authority and making appropriate recommendations to senior management and Credit Committee as required Prepare a comprehensive written analysis of a lending opportunity, identifying all risks; in order to arrive at a balanced and informed decision or recommendation. Use all available tools and services including CRAs, other rating agencies, equipment valuation data and internal rating data to ensure that the level of due diligence is proportionate to the risk. Work closely with the Origination team and directly with introducers to ensure consistent communication with Allica’s introducers Occasionally visit potential customers with Origination team and introducers. Contributing to the development of the Credit and Risk environment by active participation in a process of continual improvement including recognising and reacting to market developments, intuitive reporting, portfolio analysis as well as system issues/improvements. Personal Attributes & Experience Competent and experienced in Asset Finance Credit/Risk Management underwriting role. Experience underwriting the SME market. Excellent financial analysis skills to include understanding and calculating cash flow, customer affordability and ratio analysis Preferred experience of working in an intermediary led market although direct business knowledge is an advantage Clear working understanding of PD, LGD and EAD; IFRS 9 and impairment process Deep knowledge of credit risk principles and processes. Experience in a fast-moving or high-growth business, which could be through a secondment or special project within a larger organisation. Demonstrable examples of practical and effective problem-solving.
