The Opportunity
Key Areas of Responsibility
Academic Teaching & Learning Deliver engaging and academically rigorous Design & Technology lessons Prepare pupils for GCSE and/or A Level examinations with strong outcomes
Develop pupils’ understanding of the full design process, from concept through to evaluation
Provide detailed feedback and monitor progress through effective assessment
Practical & Technical Leadership
Maintain high standards of workshop safety and compliance Support pupils in developing advanced practical skills and independent project work
Contribute to the ongoing development of departmental resources and facilities
Enrichment & Wider Contribution
Support co-curricular activities such as design clubs, STEM initiatives or competition entries Contribute to exhibitions, showcases and school events
Participate fully in the pastoral and academic life of the school
The Ideal Candidate
Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent Demonstrates strong subject expertise within Design & Technology (e.g., Product Design, Engineering, Resistant Materials or similar specialism)
Has experience teaching at secondary level, ideally including examination classes
Brings high expectations of pupil achievement and behaviour
Is committed to contributing to the wider life of an independent school community
Has the legal right to work in the UK
