Job TitleCorporate Actuary Job Description mGwk We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Europe Longevity Corporate Actuarial team. The team is responsible for financial reporting of the Europe Longevity and Funded Solutions in-force business, which has underlying liabilities in excess of £30bn. The team is involved in calculation, evaluation and communication of quarterly Economic Capital, BMA, IFRS, US GAAP and US Statutory results. The role is varied and dynamic and there are several different projects and ad-hoc pieces of work you may be involved with, for example: Integrating new treaties into the valuation processes Development and refinement of actuarial modelling software Proposing and implementing improvements to the processes within the team as part of wider back-office transformation project In-force treaty management - e.g. collateral validation and investigation Application of new standards for USGAAP Long Duration Targeted Improvements Our annual business planning process We are looking for candidates with a strong technical background who can quickly learn new skills and take a lead on tasks, but who will also question and improve the existing processes. The team works closely together and with other teams in the Europe Business Unit including Finance, Operations, Pricing and Marketing. A collaborative and proactive attitude is therefore a must for the role. Qualifications & Experience Qualified Actuary 2:1 or above (or equivalent) in a relevant degree, preferably with a focus on mathematical subjects Strong reasoning skills and problem-solving abilities Pro-active nature and a willingness to question the status quo Strong team-working and interpersonal skills Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills Proficient user of Microsoft Excel Desirable Experience A good understanding of the insurance/reinsurance industry, ideally in respect of Longevity swaps/annuity business Knowledge of various statutory and regulatory reporting bases, e.g. UK IFRS, BMA, Solvency II and US GAAP Experience in relevant actuarial modelling platform and SQL Experience of managing junior staff as the role may include opportunities for line management Working For Pacific Life Re Every person in our global team is valued for the unique qualities they bring to our business and we seek to build their expertise and support their individual ambitions at every step.
