Overview North Bristol NHS Trust is the largest Trust in the South West region and one of the largest trusts in the country. The Trust provides Medical, Surgical, Neonatal and Maternity Care for a local population of approximately a million people in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset. The Trust also provides sub regional, regional and supra regional services in Neurosciences, Orthopaedics, Pathology, Plastic Surgery and Burns, Renal Medicine and Transplant and Urology and is the Major Trauma Centre for the West Country. The Trust has University Teaching status and is associated with both the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England.
Role details The Clinical Fellow (ST3+/Sp R Level) is for a fixed term period of 6 months. Clinical commitments are at Southmead or the Bristol Children’s Hospital. This is a very busy department. The successful candidate will be exposed to trauma as well as elective plastic surgery procedures. The department deals with hand and lower limb trauma as well as facial soft injury tissues. We are the Paediatric Burns Centre and Regional Burns Unit for the South West. The Cleft Lip and Palate unit is located at the Bristol Children’s Hospital. The job will cover ward, out-patients and theatre duties. There will be a rotation to the Bristol Children Hospital and will cover all aspects of Paediatric Plastic Surgery except Hypospadias Surgery currently performed by Paediatric Urologists. This role will be part of the on-call rota for the department.
Responsibilities Ward duties, out-patient duties and theatre duties.
Exposure to trauma and elective plastic surgery procedures in a busy department.
Work across paediatric plastic surgery including hand and lower limb trauma, facial soft tissue injuries, paediatric burns (Centre/Unit).
Rotate to the Bristol Children’s Hospital and cover all aspects of Paediatric Plastic Surgery except Hypospadias Surgery handled by Paediatric Urologists.
Be on-call as part of the department rota.
