Description

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic nurse to join the Imperial College Healthcare Renal and Transplant Centre (ICHRTC), one of the largest and most advanced facilities of its kind in Europe. The centre comprises four inpatient wards with a total of 65 beds, alongside a programmed investigation unit delivering an 18-bed day case service.

This role is based on Handfield Jones Ward, a 12-bed enhanced care unit dedicated to the management of acutely unwell patients. The ward operates as a hybrid unit, specialising in the care of renal patients requiring intensive monitoring and management of highly complex needs. This includes patients following kidney or combined kidney and pancreas transplantation, as well as those requiring non-invasive ventilatory support such as CPAP, Bi PAP, high-flow oxygen, and tracheostomy care. Some patients may also require inotropic support. The unit additionally supports patients undergoing CAPD and APD who are unable to self-manage their care.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside renal consultants, surgeons, and allied healthcare professionals. We are committed to supporting your professional development, offering opportunities to build advanced assessment and clinical management skills in the care of complex, acutely unwell patients—providing an excellent foundation for your nursing career.

Main duties of the job To provide high quality, effective, individualised care to all patients by assessing care needs and developing, implementing and evaluating them without supervision
