Products and Engineering Integration (PEI) is part of the SITA at Airports and Borders group delivering high-quality software at speed that delivers real value to our customers through the use of Agile principles and DevOps practices PURPOSE As the DevOps Engineering Lead for Baggage at Airports you will inspire, shape and lead the ideation, creation and delivery of products and services in the Baggage at Airports portfolio. The primary mission for the position holder is to lead all aspects of product engineering within our DevOps team in close partnership with your peers from Product Management and Services to deliver product and portfolio solutions to SITA customers. Using established PEI processes, methodologies and technologies, this role will own the design, development, and implementation of the portfolio’s software products and systems. Furthermore, it will contribute to shaping the strategy to achieve revenue and profit growth within the Baggage at Airports Portfolio. In support of this, the role will be fully accountable for the portfolio’s PEI budget including creation, tracking, and forecasting. The successful candidate will lead a portfolio development team that is expected to contribute to double-digit percentage growth on an annual basis. The position reports to the VP of Product Engineering and Integration and is based in London, UK. With a broad portfolio scope which includes best of breed ATI solutions such as Bag Manager, Bag Journey, World Tracer, Lost & Found, Bag Message and Auto Re-flighting, this is a role that provides ample opportunity for professional growth and development. Critical initiatives include expanding the adoption of SaaS across our product range, evolving our next generation of mobile solutions, managing and structuring our data to enable monetisation and the continued refinement of Scaled Agile methodologies and automated CD, all of which are crucial to position SITA as a key player in this market. Furthermore, the technology span of this role exceeds that of simple application development, in that this role requires the application platform, the apps themselves, the infrastructure, the network and security to be considered and evolved holistically. The successful candidate will lead, motivate, develop, inspire and engender trust with his/her leadership team with overall responsibility and accountability for product engineering resources including permanent, contractors and 3rd party and which includes the roles you would expect to find in full-practice Scrum Teams, including Scrum Masters, Software Engineers, Test Automation Engineers, Solutions Architects, UX Designers, Technical Writers and Operations Engineers The successful candidate: Develops and secures buy-in and owns the interlocked budget for his/her team. Builds and maintains systems and components as required by product strategies and technology roadmaps. Uses appropriate design, development, test & assurance, and release/deployment processes, methodologies and technologies, in compliance with SITA's policies and procedures. Welcomes constant change; including new requirements, evolving business goals and strategies, and emerging technologies. Success in the role requires the ability to collaborate, communicate and integrate across the different functions of the Portfolio DevOps team. Engages with Product and Services Leads ensuring that agreement is obtained as to how deliverables meet product roadmap requirements and backlogs. Works with internal stakeholders to ensure technology / application components / microservices etc. can be assembled to deliver against requirements. Maintains overall accountability for a portfolio of medium to large scale development, implementation and maintenance projects that have a significant cross-functional business impact. Holds full accountability for the design, development, test, build, release and deployment activities and general engineering hygiene within the portfolio. Ensures software application components/microservices are developed, tested, implemented and supported in order to sustain the long-term goals of the business. Engages with practice teams to drive innovation and identify re-usable components and architectural patterns to be planned into architecture roadmaps for delivery by Portfolio Software Development Teams. Ensures projects are completed per commitments, on time, within budget and in compliance with all relevant SITA architectural, quality and security standards. Contributes to the development and maintenance of Software Development processes. Other responsibilities include prototyping, implementing/updating solutions, building and executing test plans in accordance with SITA quality standards, participating in quality reviews, supporting operations, and triaging and fixing operational issues. QualificationsCore Skills Requirement: Proven abilities in working across teams and functions. Strong practical knowledge of working with DevOps frameworks and Agile methodologies Leading and inspiring innovation Cross functional leadership skills Demonstrate solid knowledge of and ability to apply advanced software development principles, theories, programming languages, concepts, and techniques. Demonstrate solid understanding of Agile methodologies and practices. Demonstrate competent use of development and project tools. Must be able to demonstrate broad range of Software Development experience Manage your own and teams’ contributions to tight deadlines and ability to prioritise and focus effort on the right tasks. Responsible for fostering a strong positive collaboration with the internal teams and external customers to meet strategic goals. Ability to lead teams, inspire them and remain calm in challenging situations Demonstrate experience of line management particularly in growing the teams to greater success both as a team and as individuals. Who you are 10+ years of Software Engineering experience. 4+ years in a senior level engineering position, focusing on managing technology/platform strategy. 4+ years of people management, with global teams A pragmatist, able to balance conceptual thinking with a desire to roll your sleeves up and contribute to meeting the delivery priorities of the Product Portfolio. Demonstrable core engineering competencies, with strong knowledge of standard engineering principles, theories, concepts, techniques and practical awareness of other architectures as well as development methodologies. Has worked in distributed international teams in an Agile/Scrum development environment. Strong understanding of DevOps, with SAFE knowledge being desirable Experienced at effectively working with technical and non-technical people at all levels and facilitating communication and collaboration. Highly competent at working at senior levels within an IT services provider or in the IT division of a large international matrix organization, working with customers up to C-suite level. Must be able to demonstrate strong experience in the management of a team of professionals, to deliver high value, cost effective and strategic customer propositions. Practical experience of managing complex project or bid budgets, particularly geared around managing and measuring the cost of delivery Degree in a technical discipline (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, Mathematics, etc.)
