About the Role Medical Copywriters are responsible for creating compelling promotional copy and translating data into engaging storytelling using powerful ideas and concepts. They own the science and work closely with Conceptual Copywriters, Art Directors, Designers, and User Experience specialists to create content and messaging that is highly engaging, affective, and memorable. You'll be expected to write to a high standard, showing strong use of vocabulary, grammar, and sentence flow. You must be adept at interpreting medical data and extracting information relevant to the target audience and campaign objective while remaining compliant to industry standards of medical communications. For those who show an interest and an aptitude, there is an opportunity to develop their conceptual skills, with the option of working towards a conceptual copywriting pathway. What you'll do Produce scientifically robust and compelling copy for branded and unbranded campaigns Work with scientific source material as well as researching data as needed Produce content for a variety of target audiences (e.g., from specialists and nurses to patients and the public) Work with a designer or art director to create sound communication ideas that are on brief, on brand, and on target. Develop a conceptual theme into finished deliverables through compelling promotional copy Interact and present to clients, face-to-face and on calls, instilling confidence in them by demonstrating knowledge of the brand, project, and data Address client feedback in a professional and helpful manner Support pitch work as needed About you Bachelor's degree in the life sciences required; post-graduate qualification e.g. MSc, MPhil or PhD an advantage Have healthcare copywriting experience with a portfolio of examples Have an awareness of sector activity, communications, and a thorough understanding of industry regulations, e.g. ABPI guidelines Demonstrate some versatility in adapting tone-of-voice for different audiences and communication channels and scenarios Able to digest and question a brief Able to understand and interpret market insights and strategy Contribute to a collaborative working environment Input into tactical brainstorming and brand communication strategy, using strong scientific principles Show a good understanding of communication techniques, including ideas and concepts, and even an interest in developing their conceptual abilities.
