About the Role of a Learning Support Assistant:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in helping students with additional needs such as autism, ADHD, OCD, anxiety, and school avoidance. Your role will involve working closely with students in both one-to-one and small group settings, providing essential support and interventions to help them manage their emotions and engage with their learning.
You will also assist with the day-to-day running of the classroom. This includes helping the teacher with lesson preparation, keeping the classroom organised and welcoming, supervising students, and supporting with behaviour management.
The ideal Learning Support Assistant will be kind, patient, and proactive. You should be adaptable, able to take initiative, and ready to support students with a range of different needs. Many of the students have Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), so a flexible approach is essential to ensure that each child receives the support they need.
